Job Title: Early Childhood Teacher
Supervisor: Reports to the Building Principal or other appropriate School Administrator
Terms of Employment: 190 Days
FLSA: Exempt
Essential Duties1. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students;
2. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;
3. Guides the learning process and development toward the achievement of curriculum goals and
-in harmony with the goals- establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate those objectives to students;
4. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives;
5. Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly and provides progress reports as required;
6. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students and developmental delays on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required;
7. Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly;
8. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner;
9. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistant(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively, with the department head or principal, evaluates their job performance;
10 . Strives to maintain and improve professional competence; and
11. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
Other DutiesPerform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Required)
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher from an accredited college or university.
- Certification as required by the state of South Carolina in Early Childhood Education
- Other professional and personal qualifications deemed necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to students' behavioral needs.
- Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds;
- Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students;
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus;
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
- Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
- Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone
