Overview
We are currently hiring a Project Engineer/Manager to support construction and facility improvements in Charleston, SC.
Description- Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities.
- Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Obtains and supervises outside contractors.
- Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities.
- Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects.
- Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
- Provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices.
- Development of project plans to include project justification, scope, deliverables, risks, budget, and schedule.
- Collaborating with design agents, technical experts and other stakeholder on design and project execution plan.
- Ensuring that designs meet performance goals and constructability objectives.
- Ensuring safety of team members, shipyard employees and contractors in the implementation of projects.
- Ensuring that project comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Selection and oversight of qualified suppliers to implement project work in a safe and high quality manner.
- Ensuring quality and accuracy of contractor deliverables, to include designs and technical specifications.
- Financial aspects of the project to include, budgeting, progressing, and contractor payment approval.
- Schedule adherence and critical path management.
- US Citizenship.
- BS Degree. (Either an Engineering degree or Construction Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or relevant Construction degree.)
- 5+ years of relevant project management/project engineering construction experience.
- Knowledge of utility distribution systems and facility infrastructure design and construction.
- Experience in developing design criteria and contract documents (drawings, specifications, etc.), establishing execution strategies and selecting the appropriate contract/procurement approach for the type of project and desired contract deliverables.
- Experience in coordinating multi-trade projects including electrical, mechanical, excavation, power, lighting, telecom, etc.
- Experience with SAP to include creating work orders, creating operations, obtaining confirmation numbers, researching purchase orders and requisitions.
- Position will have some travel between SC and VA.
- Pay Rate: $45-$55/hr based on experience.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
