The Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant processes, equipment, and infrastructure. This role combines technical engineering expertise with hands‑on problem‑solving to improve production performance, reduce downtime, and maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The Plant Engineer leads the site capital project program and is responsible for ensuring projects are on‑time and on‑budget.
The Plant Engineer plays a key role in preventive and predictive maintenance planning, root‑cause failure analysis, equipment upgrades, and ensuring asset integrity. They help develop operating procedures, participate in risk assessments (HAZOP, PHA, MOC), and support continuous improvement efforts through methodologies such as Six Sigma, RCFA, and reliability‑centered maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Monitor plant processes and equipment performance; identify and implement improvements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
- Provide engineering support to daily operations, ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently.
- Support reliability initiatives, equipment upgrades, and long‑term asset health strategies.
- Lead or support small‑to‑mid‑scale capital projects, from scope development through commissioning.
- Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendors, and oversee installation of equipment.
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Participate in process safety activities (MOC, PHA/HAZOP, risk assessments).
- Support development and review of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintenance procedures.
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
- Implement solutions to improve throughput, energy efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
- Contribute to continuous improvement programs such as Lean, Six Sigma, or RCM.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field
- 5-10 years of experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or similar process manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of process equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, piping, compressors, and utilities systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
- Understanding of process safety and regulatory requirements in chemical manufacturing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work cross‑functionally.
- Effective communication skills and commitment to safety.
- SAP experience preferred
