Join our technical delivery team as an Automation Engineer II. In this role you will implement quality building automation control practices, provide engineering and technical oversight for construction site projects, and support the retrofit and energy performance contracting team to optimize building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver project work on schedule and meet project requirements as an individual or team member.
  • Implement hardware and software designs in compliance with engineering principles, company standards and contract requirements during project installation.
  • Oversee electrical installation subcontractors for compliance with design, schedule and implementation methods.
  • Self‑perform low‑voltage electrical service and installation (panel installation, controller mounting, wiring, and communication wire pulling) when subcontractor usage is not viable.
  • Support or lead efforts in validation, commissioning and implementation of Building Automation Systems with Schneider Electric products or other vendors on site.
  • Test and validate hardware and software for proper operation related to HVAC control, lighting, water and other building systems.
  • Ensure quality installation of graphical interface for the client.
  • Analyze Building Automation Systems and recommend changes to improve functionality and/or energy efficiency or to accomplish Energy Conservation Measures.
  • Mark up building automation and integrated system drawings, specifications, and reports using digital tools (Visio, Excel, Word, etc.) for record keeping.
  • Handle materials for Building Automation System products during implementation.
  • Ensure conformance to industry design standards and local codes.
  • Provide input to other engineers during initial and subsequent installation phases.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Deliver solutions with first‑time quality while maintaining high levels of internal and external client satisfaction.
  • Enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company assets.
  • Lead technical resources for Building Automation Systems with the Construction team.
  • Display team effort and dedication to the client by maintaining flexibility to work as business requires.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide status and progress reports to the project team and management.
  • Assist in technical training and support for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop necessary technical documentation to streamline design of Building Automation Systems for clients.
  • Stay abreast of new technology developments and apply them to projects and processes.
  • Assist clients and team members with Building Automation System operations, software and networking issues.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Prepare routine correspondence and documentation following established company procedures.
  • Mentor entry‑level employees as needed.
  • Significant authority as indicated by the Authorization Level Document.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of equivalent work experience (preferred).
  • Experience with low‑voltage electrical installation for Building Automation Systems or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying demands and requirements, from small to large projects, self‑performed or third‑party execution.
  • Strong technical competency in construction and automation management best practices.
  • Problem‑solving mindset and active learning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and project management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards: ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, UL.
  • Familiarity with building automation protocols and standards such as BACnet, Modbus, and Lon Works.
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, and control systems.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric Building Automation System platforms is highly preferred; experience with other vendors is also highly preferred.
  • Ability to understand HVAC drawings, electrical drawings, scope of work documents and schematics.
