Job OverviewManages and supports Facilities Engineering and fire protection projects and operations from start to finish. Develops project objectives by applying best practices. Monitors project budget and timeline.
Responsibilities- Manage and support engineering projects from feasibility studies, through project tendering, to final acceptance, including design and construction activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Design, communicate, and implement a project plan.
- Monitor project progress and performance against the plan and manage PCO/RFQ requests.
- Analyze drawings and communicate discrepancies to vendors for corrections.
- Prepare engineering designs and work specifications.
- Conduct project meetings, prepare status reports, and collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends.
- Resolve operational problems and minimize delays using the most appropriate options or by improving existing approaches.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel, and reviewing bids from contractors.
- Support the setup of contacts with internal and external Mercedes-Benz partners and worldwide external business partners.
- Receive input from project teams and working groups; report to the project teams and project committees.
- May help coordinate the work of junior team members.
- Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.
- Own and manage site fire protection systems – operation, testing, maintenance and modifications per NFPA.
- Document fire preventative maintenance, operating procedures, implementation, and auditing in the iPRO system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related area.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience.
- Team player able to work in a complex, diverse group.
- Ability to manage input from project teams and working groups and to report to project teams and committees.
- Technical understanding of construction and facilities maintenance.
- Independent worker capable of forming complex relationships.
- Strong coordination skills with multiple parties.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels.
- Comfortable with computer programs (e.g., Windows programs).
