Inner Circle Agency is hiring on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing company specializing in electrical infrastructure and power distribution solutions. The organization offers a stable, collaborative environment where engineers work closely with cross‑functional teams on impactful, large‑scale projects across multiple industries.
Role Overview :Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of low voltage switchboards and panel boards. This is a hands‑on role suited for someone who enjoys both technical design work and guiding junior team members.
This is also a great opportunity for someone looking to step into a senior‑level role while continuing to stay closely involved in the engineering work itself. The team is open to candidates relocating to the Charleston area.
Key Responsibilities:- Design low voltage switchboards and panel boards in compliance with industry standards
- Develop detailed 3D sheet metal components and large-scale assemblies (150+ BOM items)
- Create wiring diagrams including PLCs, relays, breakers, and control components
- Produce and interpret technical drawings including one‑line diagrams, layouts, and front views
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering teams, and external vendors to ensure design accuracy
- Support the full design lifecycle, ensuring adherence to internal standards and processes
- Mentor and guide junior engineers as needed
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 4–8 years of experience in designing switchboards, panel boards, or similar power distribution systems
- Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)
- Solid understanding of electrical systems and components
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
Preferred:
- Experience with UL891, UL67, UL508A, or UL1558 standards
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Experience sizing conductors and overcurrent protection devices (OCPDs)
- Knowledge of control circuits and electrical logic systems
