Job Description Summary
As a Lead Engineer for Product Architecture & Configuration, you will be a key contributor to the Gas Power Product Structuring Portfolio. You will be responsible for the technical execution of product structures, ensuring that engineering design intent is accurately translated into our Configuration Management systems. This role requires a practitioner who understands the technical "how-to" of product architecture and is capable of coordinating changes across all functions.
You will work closely with Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and System Engineering to ensure that our product data supports high data integrity across our PLM, ERP, and other systems.
- Product Architecture Execution:
Develop and maintain product structures for the Gas Power portfolio. Translate technical requirements into logical features and marketing configurations that allow for flexible, scalable product offerings. - Cross-Functional Coordination:
Act as the technical point of contact for configuration changes. Work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders (Supply Chain, Application Eng, OTR teams) to ensure changes are implemented with minimal disruption and maximum quality. - Digital Thread Integrity:
Ensure that product enhancements are accurately reflected across the digital ecosystem (MBE, PLM, ERP, PASM). Perform impact assessments to identify how a change in one system affects the broader product definition. - Process Improvement & Optimization:
Actively participate in Lean initiatives. Identify bottlenecks in the current configuration process and propose/implement technical solutions that streamline data management. - Technical Support & Mentorship:
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and specialists. Assist in troubleshooting complex configuration issues and ensure that standard work is followed across the portfolio.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.
- 3+ years of experience in Configuration Management, Systems Engineering, or Product Lifecycle Management.
- 3+ years of working knowledge of rotating equipment or complex mechanical systems.
- 3+ years experience with product structures (BOMs), logical feature modeling, and the impact of configuration changes on downstream systems (ERP/Supply Chain).
- 3+ years of demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and work across departmental boundaries.
- 1 year of proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use that data to drive process improvements.
- Familiarity with modern PLM and ERP environments and how they interact within a manufacturing or engineering business.
- Understanding of supply chain requirements, including material planning and cut‑in management.
- Excellent communication skills—capable of explaining technical configuration challenges to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with continuous improvement/Lean methodologies.
- Self‑motivated with a track record of successfully managing multiple work streams concurrently.
- Pay range: $89,300.00 to $, with geographic differentials of 110%, 120%, or 130% in certain areas.
