We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
This position will be located at NASA's Langley Research Center.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will join the Resource Integration Office team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA's Langley Research Center (LaRC). This position reports directly to the Integrated Services Center Manager.
- Serve as the principal contact for all facility‑related matters, safety and environmental concerns, including chemical tracking.
- Coordinate maintenance, procedures, inspections, and annual training concerning facility infrastructure and electrical or mechanical machinery.
- Support one or multiple buildings, overseeing specialized electrical power distribution, HVAC, clean rooms, chill water systems, and freezers.
- Communicate and coordinate all required work with building occupants to avoid disruptions in Government operations.
- Conduct daily walk‑throughs and inspections to ensure proper functioning of facility and equipment.
- Maintain a library of and draft new alarm response procedures for facility equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, serve as approval source for changes, coordinate discrepancies and failures, and maintain electrical lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
- Act as principal contact for all facility safety matters, overseeing safe conduct of maintenance activities, facility‑specific safety procedures, inspections and training, and compliance with customer safety requirements.
- Maintain the facility’s chemical inventory, chemical tracking and database updates in collaboration with researchers.
- Support Government Environmental Management Office multimedia environmental audits and internal audits performed by Amentum.
- Interface frequently with building occupants and customer organizational management, providing a customer‑friendly and confident presence.
- Provide weekly reports to the customer organization on outstanding facility concerns, project status, and maintenance repairs.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Two (2) years of college coursework in engineering or related disciplines such as facilities or maintenance preferred; six (6) years of related experience required.
- Current U.S. driver’s license (Real ).
- Knowledge of MAXIMO or other CMMS, research ability using the Internet, manufacturer and other sources desired.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Project preferred.
- Experience working with or managing electrical and mechanical systems, HVAC knowledge preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, ability to use computing technology for problem analysis and solution.
Work Environment – Industrial shop environment (50%), possibly high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities; travel between facilities/test operations (35%) and occasional exposure to hazardous equipment (15%).
Physical Requirements – Able to walk, stand, bend, twist, sit, climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs; limited active construction site time; capable of working at elevated heights and confined spaces; appropriate PPE and training provided.
Equipment and Machines – Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, copier, fax); software (Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project); safety and personal protective equipment.
Attendance – Regular attendance mandatory (100%); occasional overtime/work outside normal schedule and emergency response required –
