Senior ICT Security Designer – Charleston, SC

Senior ICT (Information & Communication Technology) Security Designer to join our team in Charleston, SC. In this dynamic role, you’ll forge powerful relationships with both internal teams and external clients, especially in the cutting‑edge field of Physical Security and Telecommunications, while leading engineering efforts to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Complete a variety of project tasks including but not limited to the following:
    • Produce floor plans, device layouts, riser diagrams, details, and system schematics for telecommunications, access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter protection.
    • Review RFPs, scopes of work, and technical specifications for integrators and vendors.
    • Review shop drawings, submittals, and as‑built documentation for technical accuracy and compliance.
    • Act as a technical authority for telecommunications and/or physical security infrastructure.
  • Have strong general engineering knowledge of either telecommunications (horizontal/backbone cabling) or electronic security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, etc.) and operational coordination with commercial hardware.
  • Show the ability to design cable pathways such as conduits or cable tray systems, as well as proper bonding systems.
  • Meet with project clients to evaluate, define, and review customer needs/objectives and ensure those requirements are met within the project design.
  • Define and develop complete project‑related construction documents to include all design documents (SD, DD, CD) to show design intent, project specifications, and assist with system‑related activities within all construction administration (CA) activities.
  • Coordinate with integrated, multidisciplinary project teams to develop functional requirements, system designs, and other project related requirements.
  • Edit telecommunications or security specifications specifically to the project.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry product offerings and research new emerging technologies.
  • Assist in problem resolution and technical troubleshooting when field support is needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in security system design and familiarity with Autodesk.
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) helpful.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering Bachelor's degree, RCDD or PSP is preferred.
  • 10 years of related work experience.
  • “Can‑Do” and problem‑solving mind‑set.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks independently, on schedule and under budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and workmanship quality.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in Revit, AutoCAD is a bonus.
  • Must be able to learn new applications quickly.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and design standards and practices.
  • Strong desire for continuous learning and professional education.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
