Duties, Responsibilities & OtherThe Engineering Designer should have experience with both stormwater modeling and design/implementation of drainage and conveyance infrastructure. This role includes working with current team members to complete flood studies/no-rise analyses, bridge hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater master planning, municipal and DOT drainage/culvert analysis and design, and 2D hydraulic analyses. The designer will design and prepare drawings for various civil, transportation, traffic, structural, mechanical, water/wastewater, and utility projects.
The role requires knowledge of engineering principles, relevant design software such as Micro Station, AutoCAD, or Revit, strong communication and technical writing skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Open to hiring in any KCI South Carolina office with hybrid/remote options (Rock Hill, Greenville, Columbia or Charleston).
Key Responsibilities:
- Completion of hydrologic and hydraulic studies (floodplain, drainage improvement, climate resiliency, dam breach).
- Design and preparation of construction drawings for various water resources projects, including drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, restoration.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Micro Station and/or AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS required. Civil3D, InRoads, and/or Open Roads experience preferred.
- Assist in development of multiple projects and plans under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.
- Perform work involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment, including engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawing and specifications, proposal preparation, coordination of multiple engineering disciplines, drafting/CADD work, progress reports, and may supervise small projects.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be a self-motivated dynamic individual.
- EIT certification preferred (ability to obtain PE within two years required).

QualificationsEducation and/or
Skills Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program.
- Proficiency in Micro Station, AutoCAD, or Revit.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Required:
- Ability to maintain required certifications.
Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
