Job Description

Support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical building systems within a secure federal facility environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable performance of complex mechanical, HVAC, boiler, electrical, and related infrastructure systems that are essential to mission success. The Engineer III serves as a senior technical resource, applying specialized expertise to diagnose equipment issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and support facility reliability initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and uninterrupted building operations while operating in accordance with applicable safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair boilers, HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, and associated building infrastructure.
  • Monitor facility systems to identify performance issues and implement corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical building equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtime and restore operations quickly.
  • Maintain steam and hot water heating systems in compliance with operational and safety requirements.
  • Review equipment performance data and recommend improvements to increase reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Support facility start-up, shutdown, testing, and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, operational logs, and equipment documentation.
  • Coordinate with facility personnel, contractors, and management to ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety, environmental, security, and quality assurance standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid 3rd Class Steam and Hot Water Heating Boiler Engineer License.
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in engineering services, facility operations, maintenance engineering, or related technical environments.
Required Certifications
  • Valid 3rd Class Steam and Hot Water Heating Boiler Engineer License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of boiler operations, HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and building infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures, building operations, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience supporting federal, Department of Defense, Department of State, or other secure government facilities.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and energy management platforms.
  • Experience working in mission-critical, commercial, institutional, or industrial facilities.
  • Additional certifications related to facility operations, energy management, or maintenance engineering
