We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – End-of-Line Testing for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This role is a contractor position for a short-term 3-month project based in Charleston, SC, requiring onsite presence. PURPOSE:We are seeking an experienced End-of-Line Test Data & Quality Improvement Engineer to support a critical quality and manufacturing improvement initiative.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing End-of-Line (EOL) test data, identifying key failure drivers, conducting root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions to improve First Time Capability (FTC), reduce rework, and enhance overall vehicle quality. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Analyze End-of-Line test data including:
- Wheel Alignment
- Calibration Systems
- Dynamometer Testing
- Vehicle Validation Systems
- Additional Manufacturing Test Processes
- Identify trends, recurring failures, and process performance gaps impacting vehicle quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Conduct detailed root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Perform statistical analysis to evaluate process stability, capability, and quality performance.
- Lead and support corrective and preventive action activities to eliminate recurring issues.
- Drive initiatives that improve First Time Through (FTT) and First Time Capability (FTC) metrics.
- Develop performance dashboards, reports, and presentations for management and operational teams.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Quality, Production, and Testing teams to resolve technical issues.
- Validate effectiveness of implemented corrective actions and ensure sustainable process improvements.
- Support continuous improvement activities focused on reducing rework, scrap, downtime, and quality defects.
- Participate in launch support, process audits, and production readiness activities as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in:
Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality or Automotive Engineering or a related technical discipline - Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in:
Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product Management, Automotive Manufacturing Operations
- Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills.
- Experience analyzing manufacturing and test data to identify systemic issues and performance trends.
- Solid understanding of statistical quality methods including:
- Process Capability Studies (Cp/Cpk)
- Trend Analysis
- Failure Analysis
- Performance Metrics Reporting
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Proven experience conducting root cause investigations using:
- 8D Methodology
- 5 Why Analysis
- Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Similar structured problem-solving tools
- Experience supporting vehicle testing, calibration systems, manufacturing processes, or end-of-line quality validation activities.
- Ability to identify failure drivers and implement corrective actions that improve operational performance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
