Job Summary:

Thre Porfolio Manager III as the architect, air‑traffic controller, and quality guardian of the loan lifecycle. You turn complex financial data into smart, well-structured lending decisions—balancing risk, policy, and client needs with precision and confidence. From shaping loan structures and crafting clear, compelling credit narratives to guiding junior analysts and partnering closely with Relationship Managers, you keep deals moving forward smoothly and thoughtfully.

You’re the go‑to expert for non-owner occupied CRE, C&I, and SBA lending—digging deep into financials, spotting risks before they become issues, and ensuring every credit package is accurate, compliant, and approval‑ready. You handle everything from initial proposal to ongoing portfolio oversight, bringing clarity, structure, and strategic judgment to every transaction. In short: you make sure the bank lends wisely, decisively, and with eyes wide open—every single time.

Primary Responsibilities:

Prepares Loan Offering Memorandum and/or Preflight in a clearly written concise manner identifying loan structure, sources and uses, and debt service coverage. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates financial and pertinent data to determine credit worthiness of loan prospects and merits of specific loan requests.

Comprehensively reviews the credit package created by the Credit Analyst, reviewing structure, relationship details, collateral details, financial analysis/spreads, policy exceptions, risk rating, etc. [credit review checklist]. Provides comments/questions/redline to Credit Analyst. Works with Credit Analyst and RM on final review, ensures LOM matches credit memo, and signs off on credit package prior to submission for approval.

Reads through loan documents to ensure all terms are correct and financial covenants are listed accurately in the Business Loan Agreement before sending to RM for final review.

Ability to prepare Loan Offering Memorandum and/or Preflight in a clearly written concise manner identifying loan structure, sources and uses, and debt service coverage.

Ability to mentor/support junior credit analysts.

Structures proposals for new, modified, and renewing loans, recommending loan structure, pricing, terms, covenants, etc., all while having a thorough understanding of Loan Policy, working with RM and Credit Analysts to ensure loan structure conforms to policy (noting any policy exceptions) and addresses all credit risks.

Composes formal term sheet/proposal, working with RM Provides autonomous oversight on refinancing of existing loans, amendments/modifications, and provides recommendations to RM regarding any credit deviations, policy exceptions, risks, and/or concerns

High level of knowledge of non-owner occupied CRE structure and credit parameters, as well as C&I, and SBA 504 and 7A loan structures.

Ability to provide recommendations on loan structuring and alternative structures that may be more appropriate for the transaction.

Ability to accurately perform financial forecasting.

Collaborates with Relationship Manager (RM) on front-end client conversations and gathers high-level details

Spreads financials in Moody’s and the Bank’s Excel cash flow templates and prepares full credit memos/packages for smaller credits, and/or works with Credit Underwriting as needed/applicable.
