The Credit Analyst is responsible for providing comprehensive credit analysis and underwriting support for the Bank’s commercial, real estate, and consumer lending activities. This position analyzes financial information, evaluates creditworthiness and repayment capacity, prepares credit memorandums and cash flow calculations, and assists Business Development Officers in making sound, well-supported lending decisions.
The Credit Analyst works closely with Business Development Officers, Loan Operations, and other departments to ensure credit requests are accurately analyzed, appropriately documented, and consistent with the Bank’s lending policies and risk-management standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- * Analyze financial statements, tax returns, personal financial statements, credit reports, debt schedules, and other financial information to evaluate a borrower’s financial condition and creditworthiness.
- * Perform detailed analysis of historical and projected financial performance, including revenue, profitability, liquidity, leverage, cash flow, and debt service coverage.
- * Calculate and interpret financial ratios, debt service coverage ratios, loan-to-value ratios, global cash flow, guarantor support, and other applicable credit metrics.
- * Analyze repayment sources and identify primary and secondary sources of repayment.
- * Review and evaluate collateral information, lien position, guarantor support, and other credit risk considerations.
- * Assist with new loan requests, renewals, modifications, annual reviews, and other credit requests.
- * Assist with portfolio monitoring, credit risk identification, and other ongoing credit administration activities.
- * Assist with examinations, audits, internal reviews, and other regulatory or risk-management requests, as needed.
- * Maintain knowledge of applicable lending regulations, Bank policies, procedures, and credit standards.
- * Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
- * Previous experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, loan underwriting, financial analysis, or a related field is preferred
- * Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
- * Ability to analyze complex financial information and identify credit risks
- * Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of independent thinking
- * Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- * Manage multiple assignments, meet established deadlines, and maintain a good attendance record and willingness to work as a team within a departmental setting
- * Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
