Job Responsibilities
Assists DME with investigation and resolution of roadway related issues and complaints. Meets with property owners, municipal, county, state and federal officials regarding issues and complaints. This incudes special projects and the performance of his or her duties as assigned. Reviews encroachment permit applications submitted to the district from all D6 counties. Make recommendations according to department policy and guidelines. Coordinate with headquarters when seeking additional input to arrive at best available solution.
Assists DME with providing investigation, review and recommendations on personnel actions according to department guidelines, rules, regulations and policy. Coordinates and manages, with the assistance of the district backhoe and small roller trainers, the District 6 equipment training programs. Coordinates and manages the operator equipment maintenance program for District
6. Conducts quarterly reviews with all counties to assess progress and adherence with program goals. Coordinates with all District 6 counties in preparation and execution of Quality Maintenance reviews and reviews QM program conducting internal audits. Assists DME with review of environmental programs, internal and external environmental inspections of facilities. Attends county and shop monthly safety meetings as directed. Assists DME with review of annual budget, purchase orders and requisitions, making recommendations regarding compliance with procurement code, department and district policy.
Assists DME with implementation and operation of emergency plans for hurricane, debris management and snow and ice. Coordinates and manages the Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) for District 6, with the assistance of the District 6 HMMS coordinator. Reviews monthly reports from counties in District 6 and District 6 damage claims. Ensure timely processing at the county and district level.
Assists counties and District 6 lawsuit investigations and depositions. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and six (6) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical Requirement:
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
A motor vehicle operator's license is required.
