General ResponsibilityProcess required data from Concealed Weapons Permit applications for the Regulatory Services department.
Specific Duties- Answer the main phone line in the Regulatory Services Unit and provide customer service related to CWP. Function as a team member in the processing of Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) applications. Receive and compile all fingerprint responses from SLED and the FBI. Inspect, survey, and evaluate records related to CWP applications. Interpret state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding SLED Regulatory functions.
- Enter Concealed Weapons Permit application information into the CWP database and assist in the processing of CWP applications.
- Organize and assist with the maintenance of files on all applicants in all areas of the Regulatory Unit. Perform other administrative duties as required.
- Enter, process, and retrieve CWP applicant information from DMV files and print CWP cards for issuance in a timely manner, as required by law.
- High school diploma with clerical experience, records management, information systems, or office administration. An a ssociates degree may be substituted for required work experience.
- Ability to understand laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the agency and the Regulatory Services unit, Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), and SLED.
- Must have a working knowledge and ability to proficiently use computers, office equipment, software and data entry applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work under limited supervision while being able to utilize knowledge and skills to assist customers with issues related to the regulatory CWP functions and troubleshoot problematic issues.
- Some state-wide travel may be required.
