Massage Therapist

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Massage Therapist reports to the Spa Manager and is responsible for creating a luxury experience for each guest, providing excellent service and recommending further services and retail. The therapist communicates with all spa positions to ensure guests feel valued and maintains poise, organization, and cleanliness at all times.

• Adheres to all policies and procedures set forth by Hotel Bennett.
• Reports any incident or accident to the Department Lead, Assistant, and/or Director.
• Maintains a positive demeanor and contributes to a quality work environment.
• Understands and uses South Carolina state board standards when providing services.
• Assesses contraindications of guests that may prevent service from taking place.
• Maintains the highest level of body care knowledge and has complete knowledge of all spa services and retail products presently offered.
• Possesses proficiency in standard massages and body treatments.
• Performs all treatments on services’ menu based on current certifications.
• Suggests other beneficial treatments offered in the spa.
• Promotes home care programs by educating clients on products used.
• Understands the ingredients in products and can explain their benefits to guests.
• Answers guest questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
• Works assigned schedule.
• Provides prompt service and performs each service within the allotted time, remaining prepared for schedule changes throughout the day.
• Ensures that work areas are clean and set according to procedures.
• Maintains equipment and ensures it is in proper working order.
• Informs Spa leadership of product needs.
• Creates and maintains client cards with treatment notes, when appropriate.
• Completes all assigned side work.
• Attends all scheduled meetings.
• Attends scheduled professional trainings.
• Completes other duties assigned by the Spa Director.
• Cleans and disinfects all equipment according to South Carolina state board standards.
• Assists staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain facility and prepare for special events.
• Exemplifies Hotel Bennett Mission Statement and 5 Star Standards of Excellence.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must maintain all current licenses and certifications required on a state and local level.

• Customer service experience, preferably in a Spa.
• Current South Carolina Massage Therapist license.
• Ability to explain various treatments/services and retail items to guests.
• Excellent customer service skills and work ethic.
• Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational.
• Professional manner, discretion, and appearance.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Strong team player.
• Must be comfortable with product recommendation.
• One year of massage experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Normal work hours:
  Varied to include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
