Job Summary
- Provide exams in radiologic imaging, including diagnostic x‑ray, C‑arm, and bone density, per provider and radiologist specifications.
- Maintain knowledge of radiation protection, safety, infection control, and standard precautions.
- Perform patient assessments and deliver patient care promptly, professionally, efficiently, and safely.
- Provide coverage for additional outreach sites in Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, and West Ashley.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months of hire.
- Temporary B license from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards (eligible candidates).
- State license from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards.
- BLS certification.
PERFORM RADIOLOGIC EXAMINATIONS TIMELY, ACCURATELY AND SAFELY FOR RADIOLOGIST INTERPRETATION
- Timely:
Assure the schedule does not fall behind; communicate exam delays to all stakeholders and route exams to PACS for interpretation promptly. - Accurately:
Follow exam protocols with appropriate anatomical markers and positioning aids; ensure images are free of artifacts and motion, and complete all logs. - Safely:
Screen patients for identification, history, and safety protocols; review medical history for indications and contraindications.
ASSURE THE RADIOLOGY SUITE AND ADJACENT CLINICAL AND COMMON AREAS ARE PREPARED TO RECEIVE PATIENTS/VISITORS.
- Equipment:
Ensure all required equipment is available and operational; perform quality control per ACR and manufacturer guidelines; report equipment errors or downtime to the service vendor, manager, and clinical staff. - Suite/Clinical and Common Areas:
Ensure supplies are stocked and ordered; maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and patient areas; clean equipment per manufacturer, OSHA, DHEC, and MUSC infection control guidelines; report environmental issues to management.
System Improvement – consistently seek opportunities to improve safety by analyzing workflows, work areas, and identifying barriers.

- Perform procedures following approved protocols with sufficient speed to promote departmental efficiency.
- Complete required documentation for each procedure, both electronic and handwritten.
- Demonstrate technical competence in operating imaging equipment and using procedure‑related supplies; possess comprehensive knowledge of physics, anatomy, imaging techniques, and medical terminology.
- Introduce yourself to patients, explain the procedure, assist them at the end, and explain next steps.
- Maintain a professional demeanor in attitude, appearance, and communication.
- Obtain pertinent history, verify orders, and communicate effectively with co‑workers and other clinic staff to provide excellent patient care.
Continuous requirements: standing, walking, sitting; bending at the waist, kneeling, climbing stairs, reaching in all directions; full use of both hands and legs; good finger dexterity; performing repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions. Qualify physically for respirator use. Maintain 20/40 corrected vision. Work in a latex‑safe, indoor environment. Frequently lift, lower, push, pull, and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (±) unassisted;
exert up to 50 lbs of force; lift from 36″ to overhead 25 lbs. Occasionally work in dusty, confined, or cramped spaces.
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology. - Experience:
Zero to two years of modality‑specific work experience. - Registration/Certification:
Must be registered with the ARRT within six months of hire; licensure from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association required.…
