Pharmacy Technician (Night Shift)

A pharmacy technician assists pharmacists in various support activities and procedures involved in dispensing medical prescriptions. They gather, input, and double‑check prescription, refill, and patient information, as well as receive and organize incoming supplies. Additionally, they might prepare labels and routine prepacked orders, and potentially handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.

• Work closely with doctors and nurses in an outpatient setting that functions like a retail pharmacy.
• Support the operating room, vaccine clinic, mail order, and other clinics within the hospital.
• Rotate through different pharmacy stations during shifts, including register, filling, input, insurance/prior authorizations, and call center (mail order).
• Interact comfortably with a diverse patient population, including transplant, sickle cell, pediatrics, internal medicine, and employee medications.
• Dispense compounds and manage high volume, approximately 1200 prescriptions per day.

• Pharmacy technician certification and license.
• Experience in retail pharmacy, inventory management, data entry, insurance, inpatient, outpatient, and prior authorization.
• Proficiency in pharmacy software such as Epic and Willow Ambulatory (training provided on the job).
• Overnight shift experience from 8:45 pm – 7:15 am.
• SC State license with Board of Pharmacy.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• PTCB certification highly preferred and must be active after six months of employment.
• Experience in inpatient settings is advantageous.
• Background in customer service or similar fields like waitressing.

The pharmacy is located in an outpatient setting within a hospital, working closely with a team of 50, including pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians. The environment is fast‑paced, requiring technicians to be on their feet throughout the day and comfortable interacting with patients face‑to‑face.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $25.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charleston, SC.
