Position: Registered Nurse (RN) or Electrophysiology (EP) Technologist - EP Lab - Roper Hospital

Hours:

7:00am - 5:30pm, four 10s per week, rotating day off

Cath Lab, OR, procedure, ICU/stepdown or ER experience strongly preferred.

Job Summary

The EP RN or Electrophysiology Technologist functions as a scrub tech, circulator and/or monitors patients for electrophysiology procedures under the direction of a cardiologist. Analyzes and interprets procedural data, provides effective patient care at all acuity levels, assists in precepting new employees and students to the department's organization and function, maintains inventory and charges appropriately for procedures, performs all procedures per protocol, and participates in quality assurance and performance improvement programs as requested.

Equitable participation in call coverage is required if applicable to the site.

Essential Functions

    Demonstrate general competency in providing care.
  • Age-Appropriate Care:
    Plan, provide, and evaluate care based on the physiological, psychosocial, intellectual, and safety developmental needs of the patient.
  • Utilize appropriate processes and documentation in accordance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory standards for each patient admitted, transferred, or discharged for the invasive procedural area.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Function in all roles of the electrophysiology laboratory (scrub, monitor, and circulate).
  • Act as a qualified team member in the administration of moderate sedation under direct supervision of the physician where applicable.

EP RN Education
  • Associate of Nursing, nursing (required)
  • Diploma in Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor of Science, nursing (preferred)
EP RN Licensing & Certifications
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required)
EP Tech Education
  • Completion of Cardiovascular Technology program (preferred)
EP Tech Licensing & Certifications
  • BLS Basic Life Support, ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS or PALS required based on specialty assignment)
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with experience in Electrophysiology (required)
