Job Description Summary
The Director of Nursing reports to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Nursing Officer or Executive Director of Nursing. Under limited supervision, the Director of Nursing oversees and provides leadership for all clinical and support activities for their areas of responsibility. This role interacts proactively with other directors, leaders, physicians, nurses and other members of the health care delivery team to achieve desired outcomes.
The Director of Nursing acts as a liaison between ICCE leaders and Directors of Ambulatory Services to assure continuity of care and goal alignment.

Pay and HoursSalary – Health-35, 40 scheduled weekly hours, in continuous work shift.
Job Summary / PurposeDirects one or more major functional areas of a department, a department, or a business unit. Manages two or more professional and support staff including subordinate managers. Provides more discretion and greater financial authority than lower management levels. Directs analysis, planning, implementation and budget tracking of major operational projects or initiatives. Provides recommendations to leaders throughout the organization. Leads in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations.
Collaborates with department/business unit leadership to support the budget process and meet key operational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non‑clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. Establishes department policies and procedures. Serves as the primary liaison for the department and manages relationships with senior management, administrators, functional area managers and staff to achieve best‑in‑practice performance and business results.
Training and Education
- Master’s degree in Nursing; or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; or Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Five years of healthcare leadership experience in administration or in a closely related activity, of which at least three years were in a management capacity in a hospital environment.
- Registered Nurse by South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) – either AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers (or equivalent) or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
- Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, manipulating with fingers and hands, reaching overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders, using both legs, maintaining balance, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
unassisted, lifting objects 50 lbs. from floor to 36 inches, lifting to overhead, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force, maintaining vision, hearing, and tactile sensory functions, working rotating shifts and overtime, working in a latex safe environment, and qualifying physically for respirator use.
