Job DescriptionInterventional radiologic technologist assists physicians with image‑guided minimally invasive procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. They treat an ever‑widening range of conditions inside the body from outside by inserting small instruments (e.g., catheters or wires) using various imaging techniques such as CT, MRI, and ultrasound. The technologist is responsible for maintaining sterile technique, operating equipment, quality‑assuring imaging, and delivering compassionate patient care.
Our Interventional Radiology department is at the forefront of innovation and new technologies, offering an alternative to surgical treatment and often eliminating the need for hospitalization.
The Interventional Radiology Technologist reports directly to the Vascular and Interventional Radiology RT Supervisor and works alongside Interventional Radiologists and RNs to assist in diagnostic angiographic procedures as well as complex vascular and non‑vascular interventional and therapeutic procedures. Responsibilities include obtaining all equipment for a procedure, positioning and imaging patients, resolving equipment issues, demonstrating knowledge of human anatomy, radiation safety, interventional supplies, and equipment operation (fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and ancillary therapeutic devices).
The technologist must prepare, administer, and document contrast throughout the procedure, corroborate a patient’s clinical history, and ensure accurate documentation for clinicians. They must provide clear communication, patient assessment, and monitoring. Post‑processing of digital data for display or hard‑copy records and ensuring technical quality and proper identification are also required. Periodic weekend and off‑hour call will be required.
Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
ExperienceAt least 1 year of X‑ray experience.
Required Registration/Certification- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R), required.
