Join our Play Therapy Team as a Child and Family Therapist, where you will play a vital role in supporting children and their families through comprehensive mental health and behavioral services using Client-Centered Play Therapy. Your expertise will help parents and children foster resilience, improve emotional well-being, and promote healthy development. You will work largely independently, create your own schedule, and be an integral part of an environment that values compassion, professionalism, and continuous growth.
- Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing Client Centered Play Therapy in conjunction with other evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and others.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute emotional or behavioral distress.
- Connect with parents and families to create long lasting and trusted connections.
- Collect and document detailed medical records, patient care notes, and progress reports in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize data collection methods to monitor treatment outcomes and adjust interventions accordingly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, educators, medical professionals, and case managers to coordinate care plans.
- Engage in case management activities such as intake procedures, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing patient assessment to ensure comprehensive support for clients with disabilities or developmental disorders like autism or PTSD.
- Apply specialized skills in addiction counseling, conflict management, gender issues counseling, and working with individuals with disabilities or special education needs.
- Maintain confidentiality while managing medical documentation and records using appropriate medical terminology.
- Deliver culturally sensitive services that respect clients’ backgrounds and beliefs.
- Proven experience working with children and families in a therapeutic setting- strong preference for experience utilizing Child Centered Play Therapy.
- Demonstrated expertise in behavioral health practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and crisis management.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations for mental health conditions including PTSD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other developmental disabilities.
- Background in case management, patient assessment, individual/group psychotherapy, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of play therapy and child therapy core principles.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations involving gender issues counseling or conflict resolution with professionalism and empathy. - Experience in Play Therapy and a deep understanding of its principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Social Work and Case Management to effectively coordinate care and provide comprehensive support.
- Ability to work with children and support their unique developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Strong knowledge and experience in addressing a wide range of Mental Health issues, particularly those affecting children and families.
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (required).
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in South Carolina as an LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Previous experience in a similar setting or role is preferred but not required.
