Position: UNIV - Instructor of Audiology - Department of Otolaryngology (ENT)

Job Description Summary

This is a full-time faculty position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours of work per week. The Audiologist will complete evaluation and dispensing of amplification, assistive devices and osseointegrated devices with adult patients. This position also includes association with our Vestibular and Balance Program, which includes diagnostic vestibular assessments including VNG, Rotary Chair, Posturography, electrophysiology and VEMP/VHIT for children and adults.

The Audiologist is also responsible for providing outpatient and inpatient diagnostic Audiology services to patients requiring testing during appointments with ENT physicians. The Audiologist will primarily see patients at our downtown office and at one satellite location. Additionally, the Audiologist will participate in ongoing clinical research coordinated through the Department of Otolaryngology. Continuing education or additional training will be provided, as needed.

Academic Responsibilities

As this is an academic position, the Audiologist will also be responsible for instruction of interns and residents within the ENT Department, supervising 4th year Audiology Doctoral students. Lectures to Residents and other house‑staff may be required. Participation in Audiology Seminars is expected. An interest in research is highly desired.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Audiology Degree from accredited institution
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • SC Audiology Licensure
  • 1+ year of experience
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform job functions in an upright position (continuous), in a seated position (frequent), while walking/mobile (frequent), indoors (continuous), outdoors in all weather and temperature extremes (infrequent), in confined/cramped spaces (infrequent), from kneeling positions (infrequent), to squat and perform job functions (infrequent), to perform 'pinching' operations (infrequent), to fully use both hands/arms (frequent), and perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (frequent).

Reach in all directions, possess good finger dexterity, maintain tactile sensory functions, lift and carry 15 lbs unassisted (continuous), lift objects up to 15 lbs from floor level to 36 inches (infrequent), lower objects up to 15 lbs from 36 inches to floor level (infrequent), push/pull objects up to 15 lbs (infrequent), maintain vision and hearing acuity, perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
