Summary
This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS). The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks (e.g. environment of care, textile distribution, and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives. Tours of duty may vary depending on the internal department needs with weekday, weekend, day, and evening shift schedules.

Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen‑out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies – knowledge, and skills – and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience – including volunteer experience.
Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35–40 hours per week. Part‑time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Working Conditions:
Physical effort is required when performing housekeeping duties – operating equipment – during training sessions – or in emergency situations. Work is performed in all areas of the medical center. Continuous standing, bending, stooping, working, climbing ladders, and heavy pushing when removing trash, soiled linen, mopping, wall washing, cleaning vents, light fixtures, etc. Frequently lifts or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
Visual acuity must be sufficient to see dust, dirt, and cobwebs.
As the housekeeping aid supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for assigning work or projects; supervising workers directly or indirectly in order to accomplish work operations; planning the use of workers on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis; recommending changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as deemed necessary; making minor deviations to the procedures in order to overcome material delays of unplanned absences;
supervising a full range of cleaning duties assigned to the Housekeeping personnel; ensuring that the sanitation requirements are met for the areas assigned through the medical center; including a full range of sanitation and waste removal functions.
- Duties include but are not limited to: assigning staff for duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis
- coordinating work with supervisors of other services within the assigned area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities
