Overview
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Operations, the Associate Director of IT Services provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership to support CCPL’s information technology needs and initiatives. This role is an integral part of the library management team, working collectively to facilitate and implement long-range technology planning for the system.
The Associate Director of IT Services: supervises a team ensuring the effective operation of all local and network resources, demonstrating a strong doctrine of industry best practices and modern cybersecurity; creates a work environment that encourages high performance, collaboration, and excellent customer service; advises and supports all library applications, online platforms, and emerging technologies, ensuring CCPL remains at the forefront of library innovation.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in anticipating library technology needs, developing strategic plans, championing library goals, and leading initiatives to improve library services and operations.
Responsibilities- Leads in established information systems and emerging technologies for CCPL staff and the Charleston County Community.
- Leads IT department staff.
- Develops, maintains, and monitors the annual departmental budget.
- Defines and communicates projects, plans, policies, procedures, and standards to CCPL leadership and staff.
- Coordinates with CCPL Leadership to meet systemwide initiatives, long-term strategic goals and short-term operational goals.
- Ensures CCPL compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulations, and codes.
- Ensures CCPL compliance with all Charleston County and Charleston County Public Library policies and procedures.
- Stays abreast of current and future trends in information technology, public libraries, and makes recommendations regarding future planning.
- Develops, maintains, and monitors key reporting metrics to achieve and control desired quality outcomes.
- Ensure the security and integrity of the library’s data and technology infrastructure.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Extensive background in information technology, preferably in a public or academic library setting.
- Experience with modern cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with IT governance frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present complex ideas both orally and in writing.
- Ability to carry out projects independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to get along well with others.
- Demonstration of a strong work ethic.
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in information technology.
- 10 years of professional Information Technology experience with at least 5 years’ experience in management or a similar leadership role.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends) as needed.

$85,508.80 - $ annually commensurate with education and experience.
