Maxwood Furniture is a rapidly growing furniture company with an expanding portfolio of brands including Max & Lily, Plank + Beam, and Maxtrix. Since launching over two decades ago, we’ve built multiple sales channels across Shopify Plus DTC websites and third-party marketplaces including Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, and others.
We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead digital experience strategy and execution across our Shopify Plus storefronts. This role will play a critical part in driving conversion, improving usability, and ensuring a cohesive, high-performing brand experience across channels.
OverviewThe Senior UX/UI Designer owns the end-to-end user experience across our Shopify Plus DTC ecosystem. This role partners closely with E-commerce, Marketing, Advertising, Analytics, Innovation, Development, and 3P Channel teams to create data-informed, performance-driven digital experiences. This is a strategic and hands-on role requiring deep Shopify Plus expertise, strong CRO knowledge, and the ability to align UX decisions directly with measurable business impact.
Responsibilities- Lead UX strategy across all Shopify Plus storefronts, ensuring intuitive, frictionless customer journeys.
- Optimize navigation, product discovery, PDP architecture, cart flow, and checkout experiences leveraging Shopify Plus capabilities.
- Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI aligned with Shopify 2.0 and Plus customization features.
- Collaborate closely with Development on advanced functionality including scripts, custom components, and app integrations.
- Partner with Analytics to identify friction points and prioritize experimentation and CRO initiatives.
- Contribute to A/B testing roadmap and measurable performance improvements.
- Support landing page optimization for paid traffic in partnership with Advertising and Marketing.
- Establish scalable design systems across brands to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Ensure mobile-first, responsive, and accessible design standards.
- Translate UX insights into recommendations that can inform 3P content strategy (Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, etc.) in collaboration with Channel Managers.
- Present performance-backed design recommendations to senior leadership.
- Continuously evaluate emerging Shopify Plus capabilities and digital trends to improve experience and scalability.
- Measurable increases in DTC conversion rate and AOV
- Reduced bounce and cart abandonment rates
- High-performing PDP and checkout experiences
- Scalable design systems implemented across brands
- Clear ROI from testing and UX optimization initiatives
- 7–10+ years of UX/UI experience, with 10+ years preferred
- Direct experience designing for Shopify Plus storefronts in a mid-sized or enterprise-level environment
- Experience operating within structured, cross-functional teams (Marketing, Development, Analytics, E-commerce)
- Proven track record improving conversion performance for brands generating significant online revenue
- Strong understanding of Shopify 2.0 architecture and Plus customization capabilities
- Experience collaborating with in-house or agency development teams on complex implementations
- Demonstrated ownership of CRO strategy, experimentation roadmaps, and measurable performance improvements
- Strong portfolio showcasing data-driven design work at scale
- Experience in DTC consumer brands
- Experience in furniture, home goods, or lifestyle categories
- Experience operating in multi-brand or multi-channel environments
- Familiarity with 3P marketplace content structures
This role is based in Charleston, SC (Daniel Island). We strongly prefer candidates who are local or willing to relocate and work on-site with our team. Exceptional candidates within driving distance may be considered for a primarily remote arrangement with regular on-site collaboration as needed.
