Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and security-minded Data Center Physical Access Provisioning Manager to lead our access control operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of physical access permissions across our data center support portfolio—ensuring that employees, contractors, and visitors have the appropriate level of access while maintaining strict compliance with industry security standards.
You will manage a team of provisioning specialists, interface with enterprise security systems, and collaborate closely with site security, compliance, and IT infrastructure teams to mitigate insider threats and safeguard the critical infrastructure of the data center.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Access Management- Access Lifecycle Oversight: Manage the end-to-end physical access provisioning process, including onboarding, role changes, badge issuance, and offboarding/revocation.
- Queue & SLA Management: Oversee the global ticketing queue for access requests, ensuring strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) without compromising security protocols.
- Visitor & Vendor Management: Define and enforce protocols for temporary visitor badges, escorted access, and high-security zone clearance (e.g., data halls, meet-me rooms).
- Access Reviews: Lead and execute mandatory periodic access audits (e.g., quarterly user access reviews) to enforce the principle of Least Privilege
. - Documentation: Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), playbooks, and training materials for access control provisioning.
- Team Management: Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate a team of access provisioning specialists operating in a 24/7 environment.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with stakeholders, to include Data Center Operations, their partners, and External Audit teams to investigate anomalies and streamline workflows.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the provisioning lifecycle and drive automation initiatives where possible.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Cyber Security, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Experience:
5+ years of experience in physical security operations, with at least 2+ years in a data center or critical infrastructure environment. - Leadership: 2+ years of experience directly managing or leading a team.
- Familiarity with enterprise Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) and biometric authentication technologies.
- Strong understanding of ticketing and workflow management tools.
- CPP (Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional), CISA, or relevant PACS manufacturer certifications are beneficial.
- Attributes:
Exceptional analytical skills, sharp eye for detail, ability to remain calm under pressure, and excellent verbal/written communication skills. - This position primarily operates in a professional office environment located in Charleston, SC.
- Occasional travel to various data center sites may be required (up to 15%).
