IT Category Manager, Biomed
The American Red Cross (ARC) seeks an IT Category Manager, Biomed to lead strategic procurement and supplier relationship management for biomedical‑related IT goods and services. The role supports IT leadership and business clients across the organization, ensuring cost control, risk management, and continuity of supply for high‑value medical technology.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Sr. Director and Director of IT Strategic Procurement to align supply priorities with IT, business client, and Supply Management expectations.
- Manage a portfolio of assigned suppliers, including agreements, renewals, and third‑party risk management activities.
- Engage IT and business clients to understand procurement demands, timelines, and to influence procurement strategies.
- Develop and implement category strategies to control costs and ensure supply continuity.
- Lead negotiation of supplier agreements, renewals, and statements of work, working with internal partners from General Counsel, Risk Management, IT Governance and Information Security.
- Collaborate with CIO, IT VP leaders, BSI leaders and project teams to contribute to business cases, manage spend, and plan procurement timelines.
- Participate in Supply Management processes, including Supplier Onboarding (SOBRA), Third‑Party Risk Management (TPRM), Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB), Risk Council, and P&L improvement.
- Communicate procurement performance to leadership, emphasize P&L improvement, and support diversity goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Management, Economics, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- 7+ years of professional experience in Supply Management, Procurement, or IT Business Office roles focused on IT supplier or category management.
- Solid understanding of the IT marketplace, terminology, and industry norms.
- Experience with application development and managed services agreements and statements of work.
- Negotiation skills in pay for performance and shared risk allocation.
- Strong problem‑solving, collaboration, and influence skills.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional business meetings, deliver presentations, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Business acumen with knowledge of business structures, processes, and information flow in a multi‑line of business organization.
- Proficiency in supply‑management tools for procure‑to‑pay and contract lifecycle management.
- Combined experience in both Supply Management and IT professions, with preference for biomedical‑related IT supply management.
- Experience with major IT service providers and suppliers.
- Experience authoring and contracting professional services statements of work.
- Experience with biomedical industries.
- Experience with Coupa P2P and/or Ironclad CLM.
- Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the mission of the Red Cross.
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. The role requires use of a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods, including sitting, occasional driving, and working under challenging conditions.
Pay InformationThe annual salary range for this position is $115,000 – $125,000. No annual bonus is offered.
