Job Description Summary

Plans, organizes and prioritizes work activities, assigns tasks to workers and allocates equipment and materials to accomplish assigned tasks. Communicates expectations and standards of performance to subordinates and reviews work to ensure that it was done properly. Confers with employees and other agency staff to resolve problems. Plans and conducts periodic inspections and schedules preventive maintenance of facilities and equipment. Interviews and selects personnel.

Oversees training of new and existing staff. Orders equipment and materials. Maintains records and prepares reports regarding work activities. Prepares budget estimates based on anticipated needs for equipment, materials and personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and three years custodial, grounds keeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.

(Frequent) Ability to lift and carry weights of 50 lbs. or greater, a distance of 20 feet, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to lift and carry weights of 100 lbs. or greater, assisted. from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to materials weighing 50 lbs. or more, from ground level to truck beds, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to control movement of power operated equipment, i.e. polishers. (Frequent) Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use.

Some positions require ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Some positions require successful completion of DHEC certification as a commercial pesticide applicator.
