The Director of Housing and Residential Life is responsible for the overall planning, organization, implementation and supervision of all on‑campus housing and residence life. The position coordinates and supervises key housing services, including resident selection and assignment, resident relations, staff supervision, and preparation of complex budget and statistical reports. The director formulates annual budget requests, monitors spending, and manages a department budget with over $8 million in revenue and $3–4 million in operating expenses.
The role partners with Facilities Management, Operations, Housekeeping, Dining Services, Enrollment Services, and the Registrar’s Office to align housing occupancy with enrollment projections and strategic priorities. The director ensures compliance with state, federal, and university policies.
- Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services or related field.
- 5+ years of related experience; at least 3 years of budget management and full‑time staff supervisory experience.
- Experience in forming, implementing, and evaluating effective housing policies and procedures.
- Strong background in housing operations, technology and finances.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of facilities management planning and operations.
- Expertise in housing information and technology systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Knowledge of principles, regulations, and laws related to housing and judicial affairs.
