Job Description Summary
The Postgraduate Well-being manager develops, distributes, and evaluates educational content and psychosocial interventions related to postgraduate well-being, with an emphasis on providing planned and on-demand practical and applied programming for clinical training programs, to include trainees, program staff, and faculty. The Manager of Postgraduate Well-being supports the Enterprise Chief Well-being Officer and Office of Well-being team initiatives to cultivate a culture of well-being, with a focus on creating programming that helps to build community and establish psychological safety while mitigating the factors of stress, burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue.
The position serves as a subject matter expert for individual and program-based interventions to develop the well-being and resilience skills of residents, fellows, postgraduate students and faculty while improving the organizational response to predictable sources of workplace stress and trauma.

Job Description Primary Function:The Director of Postgraduate Well-being provides strategic leadership, subject matter expertise, consultation, and implementation support for postgraduate well-being across MUSC, including interns, residents, fellows, postdoctoral fellows, and other postgraduate trainees. The Director partners with postgraduate education leaders, program leadership, faculty, staff, and trainees to identify and address individual, programmatic, learning-environment, and organizational factors affecting well-being, engagement, and professional fulfillment.
The Director leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-informed strategies informed by trainee experience, institutional data, and best practices, translating insights into actionable recommendations and improvement efforts that advance well-being, engagement, psychological safety, and professional fulfillment.
As a member of the Center for Workplace Well-being, the Director supports the Enterprise Chief Well-being Officer and Center leadership in advancing MUSC’s comprehensive enterprise well-being strategy, with responsibility for ensuring that the unique needs and experiences of postgraduate learners are represented and addressed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership, Data & Organizational Improvement (35%)
- Leads the development, implementation, and ongoing advancement of a coordinated postgraduate well-being strategy aligned with the Center for Workplace Well-being’s enterprise strategic priorities and applicable accreditation and institutional requirements; establishes priorities, measures progress, and communicates outcomes to Center and postgraduate education leadership.
- Leads the review, interpretation, and translation of postgraduate well-being, engagement, and learning-environment data (e.g., ACGME surveys, enterprise people survey, postdoctoral climate data, and other quantitative and qualitative listening data) into actionable recommendations and supports program and institutional leaders in developing, implementing, and evaluating improvement plans.
- Identifies and appropriately escalates significant or persistent organizational, cultural, leadership, or learning-environment barriers affecting postgraduate well-being and partners with Center and institutional leadership to support appropriate action.
