Job Overview

The Maintenance Multi-Craft Technician Team Lead maintains production equipment to ensure the daily production requirements at MBV are obtained. Coordinate the day-to-day activities of a team of production workers to ensure that manufacturing operations run according to established production specifications and schedules; support team members at Mercedes-Benz Vans building state-of-the-art vans for the American automotive market.

Responsibilities
  • Perform repair work including necessary disassembly and re‑assembly of production equipment
  • Perform equipment PM tasks to ensure manufacturer recommended specifications are maintained
  • Maintain repair and maintenance records
  • Properly size circuit conductors, circuit protector devices, run conduit, install electrical equipment, wire and unwire equipment as needed
  • Use VOM and other equipment to identify electrical problems
  • Identify and analyze errors and malfunctions such as intermittent/inconsistent electrical and mechanical failures, PLCs, 24V control circuits, 480V 3‑phase systems, 4‑20mA circuits, VFDs, PC controllers, fieldbus technology, complex mechanical components (pumps, motors, bearings, etc.)
  • Perform modernizations, extensions, and modifications according to specifications and/or sketches to electrical drawings; adjust PLC programming and troubleshoot issues
  • Construct or design equipment using PLC, BUS systems, network technology, mechanical components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and cooling/lubrication systems
  • Daily equipment checks, monitor production equipment performance
  • Optimize resources and installations (idea generation and planning)
  • Change processes, process parameters, hardware, software (PLC, PC, etc.)
  • Perform cycle time analysis and optimize as needed
  • Interact with and support associates within assigned production areas
  • Procure operative materials, equipment, and service providers
  • Travel and/or overtime may be required
  • All other duties as required to support business needs
  • Conduct and participate in team and group meetings

Technical Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Mastery of work contents of the team (regular co‑working, relief/support for minimal qualifications, short‑term replacement, eradication of non‑standard components, support for vans with special equipment, act as utility person, replacement)
  • Support the team to ensure a frictionless workflow (control material availability, support process of solving internal cooperation problems, report disruptions, organize disruption management, ensure cyclic check of instruments, control rework, act as first contact for other teams, support elimination of Q‑Alarm, support and foster integration of employees)
  • Claim GAB‑Plans, Execute/control GAB (man. System)
  • Execution of Q‑Check (at Product)
  • Accomplish the CIP process (initiate and foster continuous improvement of the work environment, ergonomics, production process, and product quality; control/steering & accomplishment of CIP, succession control)
  • Technical lead of the team (communicate, improve, monitor standards; test & adapt timelines of SABs/ASBs; coordinate absence planning, execute one‑point lessons, organize shift organization, supervise and adapt SOS and marking/inscription, establish rotation plan, guarantee adherence, guarantee & execute Q‑Check, maintain board with indicators/process folder, follow measurements, escalation via E5, follow adherence to team targets, initiate & regulate problem‑solving process, develop and update qualification matrix, rework, accomplish corrective action process, support during Q‑Stop, check employees against standards, provide material/equipment)
