Position OverviewWe are currently hiring a Mold Maker / Tool & Die Maker for our Wake Forest, NC manufacturing site.
This role is an important part of our continued success and supports the strategic needs of our customers and stakeholders. We are looking for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented craftsman who takes pride in precision work and is interested in a long‑term opportunity in a dynamic tooling environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, mathematical skills, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Mold building experience is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan fabrication of dies, tools, molds, and assemblies
- Set up and operate machine tools to build, repair, and modify molds, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures
- Verify finished parts using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
- Inspect completed tools and dies for imperfections, damage, or issues that may affect functionality
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair tools, inserts, cavities, core blocks, and related mold components
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures as needed
- Perform mold repairs, inspections, and adjustments to ensure quality standards are met
- Use hand tools and machine tools to assemble, fit, finish, and smooth work pieces
- Design templates and jigs to support efficient fabrication of products and parts
- Select appropriate metals and materials based on project specifications and material properties
- Maintain a safe, efficient, and quality‑focused work environment
Candidates should have experience or capability with:
- Sinker EDM
- Grinding equipment
- CNC lathe
- Mold repair and inspection
- Precision measurement tools
- Hand finishing and fitting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
- Excellent visual accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or trade school diploma program
- 3–5 years of experience in tool and die making
- Experience in mold repair, troubleshooting, and precision machining
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic
