Industrial Sewing Machine Operator – Leather Goods

Bluetross is a premium golf accessories brand based in Charleston, South Carolina. We design and produce full-grain leather head covers, bags, travel pieces and golf accessories for private clubs, resorts and golfers across the country.

Our products are made in-house using premium Horween and Italian leathers, and every piece is finished and inspected by hand before it ships.

We are looking for an experienced industrial sewing machine operator to join our production team on a part-time basis.

This is a hands-on craft position constructing leather and other heavy-material goods from prepared components using industrial sewing equipment. You will work from established samples, patterns and production specifications in a small studio environment where precision, consistency and craftsmanship are valued over volume.

This position offers approximately 10–20 hours per week with significant scheduling flexibility. We are focused on finding the right person and are open to creating a schedule that works well for both the candidate and Bluetross.

• Sew leather head covers, small bags and accessories using industrial sewing equipment
• Work from production samples, patterns and specifications
• Maintain consistent seam allowances, stitch lines and finished construction quality
• Perform routine machine setup and care, including threading, tension adjustments and needle changes
• Inspect finished pieces and identify material or construction issues

• Professional, commercial or production sewing experience required
• Industrial sewing machine experience required
• Ability to produce clean, consistent work from samples, patterns and specifications
• Strong working knowledge of machine setup, threading and tension adjustment
• Detail-oriented, dependable and able to work independently

• Leather goods or bag making
• Marine canvas or other heavy-material sewing
• Walking-foot or cylinder-arm industrial machines
• Heavy-thread applications
• Hand sewing, including traditional saddle stitching

Leather experience is preferred but not required for an otherwise highly experienced industrial sewing candidate.

• Approximately 10–20 hours per week
• Highly flexible scheduling
• Schedule established with the successful candidate based on availability and production needs
• Nontraditional hours may be possible once fully trained and able to work independently
• $22–$25 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill
