Job Description Summary
The Oncology Nurse Educator provides hands‑on training in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, central line care, symptom management, and infusion safety practices. Collaborates with nursing leadership, physicians, and interprofessional team members to support staff competency, orientation, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives. Develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive orientation programs for new oncology infusion nurses and ancillary staff, serves as a content expert for oncology infusion best practices, emerging therapies, and new technologies, and mentors and coaches staff toward career advancement, certification (e.g., OCN®, TCTCN®) and engagement in professional organizations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing is required. Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
Minimum ExperienceMinimum three years of applied clinical experience as an RN. Master’s Degree in Nursing may be substituted for one year of required experience.
Licensure/CertificationCurrent South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state required. Relevant certification required within one year of hire (e.g., OCN®, TCTCN®, etc.). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
Physical RequirementsAbility to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, from kneeling positions, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, fine manipulation with fingers and hands, reaching overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, use lower extremities for balance and coordination, reach in all directions, lift and carry 50 lbs.
unassisted, lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from floor to 36 inches unassisted, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs., exert up to 50 lbs. of force, maintain 20/40 vision, correct hearing acuity, consider stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime as required, work in a latex safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions. Selected positions may require maintaining good olfactory sensory function and respirator use.
