Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – CVPICU / Pediatric Cardiac ICU (Night Shift) | Charleston, SC
Bring your pediatric critical care nursing skills to a high-acuity CVPICU / Pediatric Cardiac ICU travel RN assignment in Charleston, South Carolina (29401). This 13-week travel nursing contract is based in historic downtown near the waterfront—walkable streets, renowned dining, coastal scenery, and quick access to beaches.
You’ll support a high-acuity Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care setting caring for patients with congenital heart disease across age groups, including post-op cardiac surgery and advanced mechanical support cases.
Travel Nursing Job Details- Location: Charleston, SC 29401 (South Carolina travel nursing job)

- Contract Length: 13 weeks

- End Date: 06/08/2026
- Schedule: Nights, 3x12s (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shift
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend/Holiday: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; holiday rotation
- On-Call: Not required
- Charting: Epic

Salary: 0 - Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 (based on acuity)
- Unit Size/Census: 29 beds; average daily census ~26
- Floating: May float within scope to NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Stepdown
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Experience: 2+ years of recent CVPICU/PCICU or Pediatric Cardiac ICU RN experience required
- License: Active South Carolina RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license (pending may be considered with proof of application per facility process)
- Certifications (American Heart Association required): BLS and PALS
- Preferred Certification (American Heart Association): ACLS
- Highly Preferred: VAD experience (VAD training required upon arrival)
- Clinical Skills: Hemodynamic monitoring, post-cardiac surgery care, ventilator management, chest tube management, central line care/blood draws, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, antiarrhythmics
- Advanced Therapies Exposure: ECMO and CRRT experience strongly valued
- First-Time Travelers: Welcome
- Provide expert pediatric critical care nursing to patients with congenital heart disease and complex cardiac conditions
- Manage post-operative pediatric cardiac surgery patients, including close monitoring and rapid response to changes in condition
- Support patients requiring advanced therapies and devices such as ECMO, CRRT, and VADs (e.g., Berlin Heart, Heart
Mate3, Impella) - Perform and document comprehensive assessments, hemodynamic monitoring, and titration of critical infusions per protocol
- Maintain central line/implanted line care, draw labs, and support ventilated/tracheostomy patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (RT, pharmacy, dietitians, IV team, PT, social services, and more) to optimize outcomes
- Float to NICU/PICU/Pediatric Stepdown as needed while maintaining safe, scope-appropriate practice
