Registered Nurse II - ART Acute Care

Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. The RN delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

36 hours per week. Rotating 3‑12 hour shifts per week, including some weekends. Up to $10k sign‑on bonus with a 2‑year service agreement for external candidates who have a minimum of 2‑years of acute care experience.

Ashley River Tower (ART) 6 West is a 21‑bed acute care unit providing care to patients with various diagnoses. 6W commonly cares for patients admitted on general medicine services, plus specialty services, including GI surgery, surgical oncology, vascular surgery, and plastic surgery. 6W also cares for patients admitted on cardiology, CT surgery, hematology/oncology, and other services as appropriate. The nursing staff are trained to utilize various devices, tools, and techniques to assist in delivering safe patient care.

Nurse‑patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5. The team is educational, collaborative, innovative, supportive, and teamwork‑centered.

Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. Registered nurses hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either an AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider certification.

• Ability to lift and carry 50 lb unassisted occasionally.
• Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lb from floor 36" unassisted occasionally.
• Ability to lift 36" to overhead 25 lb occasionally.
• Ability to exert up to 50 lb of force frequently.
• Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one or both eyes continuously.
• Ability to see and recognize objects close and at a distance continuously.
• Ability to match or discriminate between colors continuously.
• Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects (depth perception) continuously.
• Good peripheral vision capabilities continuously.
• Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction continuously.
