American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position requiring a SC or compact RN license, Pediatric Cardiac ICU background, and AHA certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) within a Level I Trauma Center and Teaching Facility
- Patient population includes those with congenital heart disease of any age, post-cardiac surgery, VAD, heart transplant, and cardiac catheterization cases
- Staffing ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 based on patient acuity
- All beds are monitored with typical census of 26 pediatric patients
- Specialized procedures and therapies include ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, VAD, and pediatric palliative care
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule and participate in a holiday rotation
- Floating within the nurse's scope may be required to meet facility needs
- Unit uses Epic EMR
- Unit holds the Gold Beacon Award and is nationally recognized for pediatric cardiac outcomes
- Interdisciplinary support includes patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pediatric pharmacists
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
- Return to work policy requires at least one year separation for prior staff (including PRN) before returning as a traveler
- Locals within 60 miles accepted at a different rate
- All planned time off must be disclosed and approved prior to assignment
- Travelers may need to participate in emergency response during hurricane season (June–November)
- Pre-assignment online modules must be completed prior to start
- Scrubs or dress code not specified
- Active SC or compact RN license; license must be in hand or proof of application provided
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required
- Experience in cardiovascular and pediatric settings required
- VAD experience highly preferred
- Certifications required: BLS and PALS from the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification from AHA preferred
- Social Security Number and driver's license required for consideration
