Job Description Summary
The successful applicant will be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant interested in full‑time care of pediatric patients with diabetes and other endocrine diagnoses. The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at MUSC offers clinical, translational and basic research with a reputation for excellence. Telehealth appointments may be part of the normal caseload.

Salaried/Exempt
Hours per week: 40
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday – Friday daytime clinics and on‑call responsibilities.
Patient PopulationPatient focus:
Outpatient; age range 0–21 years.
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current license or eligibility, OR
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current license or eligibility as an APRN (Primary Care Pediatric NP, Family NP),
- Minimum of 1 year experience specializing in Pediatric Endocrinology.
Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES).
SupervisionAssigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and reports directly to that physician.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- DHEC and DEA license applications started prior to first day.
- Provides direct care to patients: takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
- Evaluates and treats based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
- Initiates referrals to other health care providers and/or consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
- Documents and bills for direct care provided.
- Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
- Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
- Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
- Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Potential to precept students and facilitate learning of other new team members.
- Maintains licenses, certifications, and continuing education as required.
- May require travel between area clinical locations (North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Downtown Charleston).
Continuous standing, walking, and sitting; ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions. Must be physically qualified for respirator use and have 20/40 vision corrected. Works in a latex‑safe environment indoors. May work in dusty or confined spaces infrequently.
