HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital in Charleston, SC has multiple PCT positions available for full‑time days and full‑time nights.

Units include:

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will be a vital part of our collaborative nursing team, supporting Registered Nurses in providing hands‑on care and helping create a safe, welcoming environment for patients. You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. Your attention, empathy and teamwork help restore comfort and dignity for every patient you serve and make our mission to improve lives a reality each day.

Responsibilities
  • Obtaining vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, application of ice/heat, and/or simple non‑sterile dressing changes.
  • Answering patient call lights in a timely manner and responding to patient needs/requests.
  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living to include bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting, grooming, changing linens, providing water, ambulating, assisting with meal delivery and feeding as directed.
  • Safe patient handling: turning and positioning, use of specialty beds, patient transfer and use of transfer devices, ambulation assistance and use of assistive devices, restraint alternatives, oxygen use and transport, suction use, pre‑operative skin preparation and/or use of sequential compression devices (SCD).
  • Recording information in the patient’s medical records.
  • Communicating with physicians, nurses and other healthcare team members regarding changes in a patient’s care and condition.
  • Educating patients and families on the care and therapies being provided, in conjunction with physicians and nurses.
  • Monitoring supply levels in your unit and patient rooms and restocking as needed.
  • Providing non‑medicated care such as dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
  • Keeping patient areas and common spaces clean, organized and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Managing supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
Qualifications
  • Licensed as a CNA in South Carolina preferred.
  • RN Nursing School Students may be considered.
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • One year of acute/hospital experience is preferred.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
