A Brief OverviewThe Nursing Technician (NT) provides age‑specific direct patient care based on the policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing through participation in the Nursing Process and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The NT demonstrates skill in oral and written communication as well as in interpersonal relationships with patients, families and co‑workers. The NT utilizes the case management process to best utilize clinical resources and services provided for a timely and fiscally responsible discharge.
Whatyou will do
- Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to the nurse clearly and accurately within an appropriate time frame.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with patients, family members and co‑workers.
- Assist with the admission of new patients and orient them and family to the environment.
- Utilize worksheet.
- Provide accurate report at shift change.
- Practice cost containment and appropriate resource utilization in the delivery of patient care.
- Assist in facilitating timely admission and discharge of patients.
- Staff the discharge lounge and provide patient care as directed.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and current records and prepare reports and records for physicians/nurses as requested.
High School Diploma or equivalent and must be actively enrolled in RN school pursuing a degree in Nursing, documented by transcript.
Experience QualificationsRN Student with NT II (documentation of completion of Basic Nursing Skills/Fundamentals) plus Med‑Surg rotation. Candidates must receive a minimum “meets standard” rating on the most recent annual or 90‑day evaluation, must have received no written disciplinary corrective actions or no more than two verbal counseling or informal counseling sessions within the last 12 months.
Skills and Abilities- Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
- Demonstrates skill in oral and written communication.
Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is required.
