LPN Outpatient Clinic Float Team
Our LPN Outpatient Clinic Float Team offers a unique opportunity for Licensed Practical Nurses who enjoy variety, flexibility, and growth. The CHS Clinic Float team members support multiple outpatient clinics across our ambulatory network, stepping in where help is needed most. This position requires reliable transportation for traveling throughout the Tri‑County region:
Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the Manager. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the LPN provides individualized, goal‑directed and family‑centered patient care. The LPN demonstrates proficiency according to the laws governing nursing in South Carolina, delivers safe and effective care, and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results and outcomes. This position will require the use of the LPN’s skills in multiple physical locations under MUSC Health.
MinimumTraining and Education
- Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program.
- Minimum of six months experience as an LPN.
- Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
- A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card.
- Commitment to patient‑centered care philosophy evidenced by effective communication skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability and motivation to articulate and support departmental philosophy of excellent guest relations.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Computer literacy.
Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card.
Physical RequirementsStand, sit, walk continuously; climb stairs infrequently; work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes infrequently; work from elevated areas frequently; work in confined/cramped spaces frequently; perform kneeling positions infrequently; bend, twist at the waist; squat, perform repetitive hand/wrist/elbow/shoulder motions; lift and carry 50 lb unassisted; transfer patients requiring up to 50 lb force; maintain 20/40 vision corrected; good peripheral vision; hearing acuity with correction;
perform gross and fine motor tasks; work rotating shifts; work overtime as required; work in a latex‑safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions; (selected positions) maintain good olfactory sensory function; qualified physically for respirator use; etc.
