Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionResponsible for all lactation related services, programs and education and services as a resource for lactation counseling and support to the community. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups.
Essential Job Functions- Conducts educational programs, education, and services for lactation counseling and support to the community and patients/families.
- Responds timely to inquiries for requested program, education, and services for the community.
- Assists in creation of resource materials to be used for programs, education, and services for lactation counseling and support to the community and patients/families.
- 2 Year/ Associates Degree Nursing required for BSMH, BSN preferred
- For Roper St Francis Healthcare BSN required
- Must possess current licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Must possess IBCLC Certificate. ILBC certification required.
- Three to five years nursing experience, specifically in obstetrics and/or infant development required.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- Work requires excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, to communicate effectively with mothers and a variety of professional personnel.

Preferred
- Experience with NICU patients preferred. Covers NICU and OB but will flex throughout house to provide lactation support as needed.
