American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center, requiring the ability to both scrub and circulate general OR cases.
Requirements- Active SC RN license or compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have the license active before starting.
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS.
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required.
- Must be proficient in both scrubbing and circulating general OR cases.
- A radiation badge is required for this role (provided by agency).
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration.
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration.
- General OR setting within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds.
- Must be able to both scrub and circulate general OR cases, including Plastics, Colorectal, Urology, MIS, Pancreatic/Biliary, and Surgical Oncology.
- Facility operates 5 robotic surgical systems.
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM.
- On-call required: approximately 5–8 calls per month, including weekends.
- Holiday on-call coverage may be required.
- EMR:
Epic (experience preferred). - 13-week contract.
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this position.
- Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler.
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; approval is based on department needs.
- Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis; non‑local candidates are prioritized.
- Online orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment.
- During hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September.
- Parking is available via a hang tag permit obtained from the parking management office for a one‑time $20 registration fee, valid for the designated parking garage only.
