Registered Nurse II - 7B Medical Acute Care

Job Overview

Registered Nurse II on the 7B Unit reports to the Nurse Manager. Provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and collaborates with health‑care team.

Provides nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice. Provides patient/family centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. This includes assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion, and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with policies.

Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior. Demonstrates professional practice through participation in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, professional development, effective teamwork, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking. Coordinates delivery of patient care services using care management principles. Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.

• Minimum of one year of registered nurse work experience.
• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; RN with Associate or Diploma required to complete BSN within four years.

• Registered nurse licensure by South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state.
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers.

• Stand, sit, walk continually; climb stairs infrequently; work indoors continually; work outside in temperature extremes infrequently; work from elevated areas frequently; confined spaces frequently; kneeling infrequently; bend at waist continuously; twist at waist frequently; squat and perform job functions frequently; pinching operations frequently; gross motor activities with fingers and hands continuously; firm grasping continuously; fine manipulation continuously; reach overhead frequently; repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders continuously;
  
  use both legs continuously; use lower extremities for balance and coordination frequently; reach in all directions continuously; lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted infrequently; lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from floor 36” unassisted infrequently; lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. infrequently; exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently; maintain vision and hearing acuity continuously; handle stressful situations continuously; work rotating shifts frequently;
  
  work overtime as required frequently; work in latex safe environment continuously; maintain tactile sensory functions continuously; for selected positions maintain olfactory sensory function; for selected positions be qualified for respirator use.
