Role Description The Registered Nurse (RN) at Bristol Hospice provides direct, compassionate nursing care to hospice patients and supports families and caregivers throughout the end-of-life journey. This full-time, on-site role in Charleston, SC includes completing patient assessments, developing and updating individualized plans of care, and managing symptoms in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The RN administers medications and treatments, monitors patient status, and documents clinical information in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities also involve coordinating with physicians and other care team members, educating patients and families about disease processes and comfort measures, and participating in care conferences. The RN supports quality, safety, and compliance initiatives while promoting dignity, comfort, and emotional support for patients and loved ones.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina, in good standing; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical nursing skills in assessment, care planning, symptom management, and medication administration, preferably in hospice, palliative care, home health, or acute care settings.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient/family education skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation, use of electronic health records, and adherence to regulatory, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Ability to work independently in patients’ homes and facility settings, manage time and caseload effectively, and respond calmly to changing clinical needs.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel locally to patient residences and care facilities as needed.
  • Commitment to compassionate, person-centered end-of-life care; sensitivity to diverse cultural, spiritual, and family needs.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; hospice or palliative care certification, and prior hospice experience are preferred.
