This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below.

International SOS is looking for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide skilled nursing care to patients in Specialty and Primary Care Clinics in Ralph H. Johnson VAMC and surrounding Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. The LPN may perform approved Medical Center procedures per the Licensed Practical Nurse Act, Vocational Nurse VA Qualification Standards and demonstrates increasing independence in managing patient care and competence in caring for adult psychiatric, medical, and geriatric patients.

• Provide duties as needed in the Acute Care Medical/Surgical areas, ambulatory/outpatient care clinics, and outpatient lab.
• Prepare, administer, and appropriately document administration of medications: oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
• Observe and document patient's response to medication and report any noted change in condition to RN or MD/DO.
• Serve as a responsible member of the nursing team, interacting appropriately with patients, family members, professionals, and supportive personnel involved in the delivery of patient care, incorporating acceptable, established customer service standards into practice.
• Monitor and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medical histories.
• Assist with patient hygiene and ADLs, including bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Prepare and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about health management and disease prevention.
• Perform wound care and assist with minor surgical procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
• Respond to patient calls and concerns timely.
• Assist in emergency situations and provide first aid as needed.
• Participate in training and continuing education to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.

Note: This list is non-exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake additional duties not specifically listed above.

• Successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to obtain licensure.
• Current unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from any US State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a US territory.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Two (2) years of current experience in a primary care setting, including work within the last six months.

Graduate of a state-approved school of practical/vocational nursing.

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 15 lbs.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
• Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance and South Carolina criminal background check.

Pay range: $25-$27 per hour, based on experience, skills, and market data. Salary and final offer will be determined based on background, experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic market data.
