Overview
The Float Team serves adult and pediatric populations across 10 specialized zones. This RN position on the Float Team offers flexible scheduling, float differential pay, and an optional $30,000 sign-on bonus for full-time external candidates with two or more years of pediatric critical care experience (three-year service agreement required). In this pediatric-focused role, nurses float between the PICU, PCICU, and NICU, with additional support opportunities throughout Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, creating a dynamic and rewarding nursing experience.

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Minimum Training and EducationGraduation from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of one year of pediatric critical care work experience as a registered nurse is required. Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to initiate education for BSN within 2 years and complete within four years of hire date.
Employees are required to sign an agreement regarding the education requirement.
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, and good peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity; ability to work rotating shifts and overtime; ability to work in a latex safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions. Selected positions may require respiratory protection and olfactory function.
