Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - OBGYN

Overview

The successful applicant will be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who will work full‑time caring for women’s health. The role is part of a busy Obstetrics & Gynecology Division that includes 28 ObGyn specialists, 7 gynecologic oncologists, 3 urogynecologists, 11 maternal‑fetal medicine providers, and 11 general OBGYN APPs. Responsibilities include managing outpatient visits, performing mandatory procedures, and contributing to obstetric care in labor and delivery and the operating room as needed.

• A completed, accredited Physician Assistant program and current license or eligibility for licensure as a PA.
• A completed, accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current license or eligibility for licensure as an APRN.
• At least 1 year of women’s health experience as a PA or APRN.
• Required certifications:
  Basic Life Support (BLS); if applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be initiated prior to the first day.
• RNFA certification is required for first‑assist duties in the operating room.

• Additional credentials such as WHNP (Women’s Health NP) or CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) are preferred.
• Familiarity with intrauterine devices, contraceptive implants, and related procedural privileges is desired.

• Minimum of 2 years of women’s health experience as a PA or APRN.
• Experience in obstetric triage, labor & delivery, and surgical first‑assist roles is highly valued.

• Provide comprehensive history, physical exam, and management in outpatient clinics.
• Treat patients based on clinical findings and procedural guidelines, making referrals and consulting physicians as required.
• Deliver ante‑partum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, including family planning, well‑women examinations, Pap smears, colposcopy, and endometrial biopsies.
• Perform approved therapeutic procedures such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, ultrasound, and insertion/removal of contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices.
• Provide obstetric triage and patient care on labor and delivery in coordination with supervising physicians.
• Assist in surgeries as a first‑assistant in traditional and Davinvi Ob/Gyn‑related procedures approximately two days per week.
• Document and bill for direct care provided.
• Utilize current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
• Participate in quality improvement, clinical research, accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, and reach in all directions.
• Full use of both hands and legs, good finger dexterity, and capacity for repetitive hand/wrist motions.
• Vision of 20/40 corrected; ability to see and recognize objects at close and distant range.
• Work in a latex‑protected environment and indoors.
• Must be able to lift, lower, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 50 lb (±) without assistance.
